Students who want to pursue master degree courses in various disciplines of engineering have to take the GATE. It is regarded as one of the most difficult exams of the country.

GATE Model papers for Instrumentation Engineering

There are many streams which the candidates can take the test in. Instrumentation Engineering is one such stream. The paper code is IN. the duration of the test is 3 hours and the number of questions is 65. The questions are all multiple choice types. There are four options with each question but only one of them is correct. The detailed description of the test is given below:

Questions 1-25 carry 1 mark. The negative marking is 1/3 mark.

Questions 26-55 carry 2 marks. The negative marking is 2/3 mark.

Question numbers 52, 53 and 54, 55 are linked answer questions. The second answer of the pair depends on the first one.

In case the first answer is not correct, the second one will not be evaluated. So negative marking is only for the first answer.

The next five questions are aptitude questions, each carrying 1 mark. The negative marking is 1/3 mark. The last questions are also aptitude questions. These questions carry 2 marks each and the negative marking is 2/3 mark.
